Drug screen tests, more commonly known as drug tests, are used to detect the presence of illicit drugs in one’s system. EliteCare offers a 12-panel drug test for employers and patients. The 12-panel drug test detects drugs such as:
- Amphetamines
- Methamphetamines
- Benzodiazepines
- Barbiturates
- Marijuana
- Cocaine
- PCP
- Methadone
- Opioids
Drug screen tests are most often used by employers for pre-employment screening for new hires. Drug rehab centers also frequently test their patients to ensure they are staying clean during the program. Families can also use drug tests when they suspect a family member is using.
The Two Types of Drug Tests
There are two main types of drug tests–immunoassay and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. Immunoassay is the most common type of test because of its cost-effectiveness and quick results. However, the immunoassay test can give false results and sometimes fails to detect same-day drug use.
For this reason, if a positive result is found, the gas chromatography/mass spectrometry test may be administered to confirm the presence of a specific drug. Both types of tests are given as urine tests. Employers should advise new employees to disclose all prescribed medications because the presence of certain medicines in the system can throw off drug test results.
EliteCare offers company-wide drug testing for local industries. Results are returned the same day as test administration to keep your hiring process moving swiftly.
